Adams & Miles LLP (two offices in Ontario) hosted a US Property Tax seminar for its clients and staff. The presentation addressed the tax implications of Canadian residents buying U.S. properties, the topic attracting additional interest recently due to a strong Canadian dollar and perceived bargains available in the U.S. properties market.
Our presenter was Leslie R. Kellog, a Partner at Hodgson Russ LLP, a law firm with offices in New York state, Florida and Toronto. Leslie practices international and business tax matters and estate planning and often focuses on cross-border matters including structuring considerations in purchasing U.S. real estate and business expansion into the U.S. The seminar highlighted the complexities of real estate purchases by non-residents and importance of professional advice in these transactions.

Meaden & Moore listed as the 7th largest accounting firm in Northeast Ohio, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.
On September 7th, a group of Meaden & Moore employees cooked and served dinner to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland. The staff at the Ronald McDonald House work hard to provide a home-like environment for over 1,400 families every year dealing with the difficulties of caring for a chronically ill child. Meaden & Moore was happy to help out and the Ronald McDonald House is very appreciative of our continued support over the years.
On Wednesday, October 5, the Cleveland Office welcomed Richard and William Moore, and their wives Rita and Alice, to Meaden & Moore. Richard and William are the sons of the late Vernon J. Moore, one of Meaden & Moore’s founders. The brothers and wives were able to share some stories of their father with several Meaden & Moore current and retired partners. They enjoyed a lunch and a tour around the office.
We were honored to host the group, and appreciated their sharing a tie to the Firm’s long history.
