Bessner Gallay Kreisman's (two offices in Montreal/Ottawa) 2011 tax season found the BGK Tax Group offering a new service. For the first time, BGK’s Tax Group prepared U.S. tax returns for U.S. citizens who are residents of Canada. Previously, the firm engaged U.S. accounting firms to execute this service. The firm is proud to provide this international expertise to its client-base.
The firm launched BGK Seniors Advisory Group Inc. BGK is breaking new ground. The firm has created a division that extends the role of a traditional accounting firm. Jeff Sidel, Managing Director and architect of this group, explains, “Many of you have loved ones who have spent a lifetime building their financial security in order to enjoy peace of mind during their retirement years. However, even the most carefully calculated plans can be derailed by unforeseen circumstances, such as debilitating diseases that compromise independence, control and stability. During times like these, despite best intentions, it may be difficult for family members to commit the time, find the resources and perform the tasks demanded by their loved one’s increasing needs.”
To assist at such times, Jeff not only conducts all required research but will provide clients with a “one-stop-shop” that covers a broad array of services. These include financial planning, legal, home care and assisted living, property management and tax management services. Jeff’s service offering is most attractive to adults living in Montreal or elsewhere in the world, who may have aging parents or family members residing in Montreal who require such services.
Moses Bendayan, Vice-President of BGK Corporate Strategies Inc. (BGK’s Mergers and Acquisitions | Financing Group), recently authored the article, The Use and Art of Writing a Business Plan. Moses is a frequent lecturer at seminars in and outside of the Montreal marketplace and consults with clients on the purchase and sale of businesses as well as financing. He brings international expertise to the table and decades of experience handling such transactions.
Since the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, BGK has advised clients with a printed mention at the bottom of each invoice that a donation has been made – as a token of the firm’s appreciation for their loyalty – to the Japan Red Cross Relief Fund.
BGK’s members recently held a “spin-off” to raise money for the Montreal-based food bank, Sun Youth. At the firm’s in-house spinning room, which consists of five exercise bikes, our people were challenged to “go the distance” and try to win the top spot for greatest mileage in the shortest time. The event was a win/win for all and was led by partner Derek Silverman CA.

At a recent cocktail party held by the firm, service recognition awards, along with gift certificates, were given to employees who have been with BGK for 10+ and 20+ years. Managing Partner, Louis Ruta, cited these individuals for the enthusiasm and loyalty they bring to their various positions each day.
Introducing a new initiative, the firm’s May 2011 newsletter, News & Views, featured an article on one of BGK’s young, entrepreneurial clients. The article highlighted Jeremy Fine’s innovative Montreal company, Eco-Green Media (www.eco-greenmedia.com) to assist his business launch. Visit www.bgk.ca to read about Fine’s eco-friendly hangers. |
