Beverly R. Nichols, CPA of New Orleans, LA was awarded the 2008 Public Service Award by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the 2008 Distinguished Public Service Award by the Society of Louisiana CPAs.
For 25 years, Beverly Nichols, Tax Director and Director of Employee Benefit Services at Bourgeois, Bennett, L.L.C. has been a volunteer with Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans. She was a leader in bringing Junior Achievement's Program, Exchange City, to 15,000 students to teach them financial literacy. She serves as president of the New Orleans Institute of Mental Hygiene and was instrumental in re-opening child care facilities in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and helping children with mental health issues.
Bev is a founding member of the Priestley School of Architecture and Construction, which opened one-year after Hurricane Katrina to prepare students to help rebuild and revitalize New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Her leadership and counsel on the Red Cross Southeast Chapter Board were vital in stabilizing the chapter in the wake of continuing emergency response.
Bev is a recipient of the 2005 and 2008 CityBusiness "Women of the Year" award, the 1996-1997 Distinguished Volunteer Service award from United Way and the 1991 American Council of Career Women Achievers award for outstanding contribution of time and talent to civic, community and professional activities.
