Ralph Cox, managing partner of Bourgeois Bennett, L.L.C., served on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Life Insurance & Disability Plans Committee, and currently serves as chairman of the committee’s Finance Task Force.  This committee oversees the operations of the AICPA Insurance Trust, which, with over $135 billion of life insurance in force and annual premiums of over $400 million, would qualify as being in the top 6% of the approximately 11,000 life insurance companies in the United States.  (We are Prudential Insurance Co’s single largest customer.)

Ralph also served a three-year term as one of Louisiana’s three elected Members of Council, the governing body of the AICPA. The full Council (comprised of some 265 individuals) meets twice each year, in the spring and the fall, to review proposals, and debate and approve actions which affect the AICPA and the profession as a whole. Regional meetings, primarily to provide information about topics on the upcoming spring meeting, are held in March each year.

A University of New Orleans accounting graduate, Ralph has held leadership positions in several professional accounting associations. He is a past president of the Society of Louisiana CPAs as well as its New Orleans Chapter. He is also a past chairman of the Louisiana Accounting and Auditing Conference. He is the 2001 recipient of the LCPA Distinguished Service Award, and serves on the Accounting Advisory Councils of UNO and Tulane University.
