Bederson & Company, LLP (West Orange, NJ) named retired United States Bankruptcy Judge, Francis G. Conrad a partner in their Insolvency and Litigation Services Department. Judge Conrad brings key judicial, academic, accounting and executive experience to his new position at the firm. With in-depth knowledge of workouts, turnaround, arbitration and mediation, as well as working directly with debtors, creditors, Chapter 7 Trustees, Judge Conrad’s world-spanning knowledge base adds to the dynamic skill set of the firm.
Prior to joiningthe firm, Judge Conrad was most recently a partner at a large accounting and consulting firm where he provided debtor, creditor and financial advisor representation. Judge Conrad has served as a US Bankruptcy Judge for the Districts of Vermont, the Southern and Western Districts of New York , has a JD from Fordham Law School, an MBA in financial management from John G. Hagan Graduate School of Business, is a member of the bar in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and the Supreme Court of the United States, several Federal Courts, Tax Court and the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a CPA, CIRA, CFE and a US Army Veteran. Judge Conrad is currently a professor in the LLM Bankruptcy Program at St. John’s Law School. A frequent lecturer and moderator, Conrad has provided thought leadership and authored scores of scholarly articles appearing in national and international journals.
The firm is also pleased to announce that partner Matthew Schwartz, CPA/CFF, CFE, CIRA, MBA has been named president of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Schwartz is a principal in the insolvency and litigation services department where he is responsible for overseeing, reviewing and testifying regarding all aspects of forensic engagements, including bankruptcy, insolvency, fraud, damages and tax matters. He appears and testifies in Bankruptcy and State Courts in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware. |

He provides accounting and auditing, corporate and individual tax services, and general business consulting to a variety of closely held businesses of varying sizes and complexities. He is qualified to perform yellow book audits and employee benefit plan audits, and is an expert on FAS 123R compliance and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Annual Day of Sharing firm wide volunteer day on December 10, 2009. Sixty staff members, in coordination with the United Way of Tampa Bay, donated one day of community service to a variety of Tampa area
not-for-profit community organizations. The firm divided into 8 teams, volunteering at 5 different sites and provided a broad range of services including the organization of supplies, household
items, canned goods and holiday toy donations. |

Schenck SC, eight offices in Wisconsin, is pleased to announce the election of three new shareholders to its Board of Directors: Mark E. Jubelirer, CPA; Michael G. Kuechler, CPA; and Randall K. Olm, CPA. Each was elected to serve a three-year term on the Board. Jubelirer has over thirty years of experience serving all sizes and types of clients, especially those in the manufacturing, real estate and not-for-profit industries, and has been with Schenck since 1978. Kuechler joined Schenck as a manager in 1985 and was promoted to shareholder in 1988. He provides tax planning and business advisory services for businesses and individuals with extensive work in family and business succession planning. Olm joined Schenck in 1974 and was promoted to shareholder in 1983. His experience includes supervising audit engagements, as well as providing tax planning, tax compliance and business consulting services to a varied client base.
For the 15th year, the firm will host a real estate and construction forum in February designed for builders, developers, real estate investors and professionals that support the industry. |
