In the Carmel, IN office
are Neil A. Mennen, staff accountant; Betty J. Miles, senior accountant; and Debra J. Drury, human resources assistant. The Indianapolis office welcomes Michelle L. Trowell, manager; Dwight W. Hillenburg, staff accountant; and Kent L. Francis, senior manager.
In the Columbus, OH office are Alan L. Baker, quality control officer and Anna M. Rogers, practice development specialist. Michelle L. Ross, staff accountant; Angela G. Anderson, consultant; and George W. Hopkins, senior accountant, are added to the Louisville, KY office. |

Concannon Miller & Co., P.C., Pennsylvania and Florida, announces two individuals have been admitted as Shareholers: Erica K. Bortz, CPA, and Ronald R. Cressman, Jr., CPA, CVA. Ms. Bortz works with McDonald’s clients, small business clients and employee benefit plan audits. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Kutztown University. She joined the firm in 1995. Mr. Cressman works with a wide variety of closely-held businesses, including a significant number of franchisees, manufacturing, tech and contracting organizations, and McDonald’s owners. His areas of expertise include consulting on tax planning, business valuations, personal financial planning, and a variety of other financial issues. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from DeSales University.
Two individuals have been promoted recently. Anthony Buss has been promoted to Manager, Audit and John C. Wessner, has been promoted to Manager of BackOffice Solutions and Leader, Green Incentives. Mr. Buss has Bachelor of Science degree from Kutztown University in Accounting and Management. He is a member of AICPA and PICPA. Buss has been with Concannon Miller for four years handling audits for non-profit, profit and manufacturing clients and employee benefit plans. Mr. Wessner is a graduate of Kutztown University with a B.S. in Accounting. He has an MBA in Management from St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia. Mr. Wessner has been with Concannon, Miller & Co. for two years during which he has served on the company’s Charity Committee and he initiated and leads the company’s green incentives. |

Daszkal Bolton LLP, three offices in South Florida, is pleased to announce a merger with Miami based Chaves & Armstrong P.A.
effective December 1, 2009. The firms will practice as Daszkal
Bolton LLP and combine to enhance the firm by adding significant depth and expertise to its technical accounting and
multinational tax disciplines. Chaves & Armstrong partners - Mark Chaves, CPA and Craig Armstrong, CPA - join the firm as principals and the firm retains all employees, which will be
relocated to Daszkal Bolton's Sunrise office at the Sawgrass Corporate Center.

James Moore & Co., P.L., three offices in Florida, is pleased to announce that Michael J. Sibley, CPA and Erin M. Spiwak, CPA have been admitted as partners with the firm effective November 1, 2009. Sibley, who has 11 years of accounting experience, joined the firm in August of 2001 and holds the unique distinction of being a Certified Fraud Examiner. He was also recently chosen as one of the Volusia/Flagler Business Report’s 2009 Young Business Leaders. Spiwak is a Certified Valuation Analyst and a member of the AICPA and the Florida Institute of CPAs.
Thomas Hancock, a partner in the Gainesville office has retired from the firm. Hancock joined the firm’s founding partner, James Moore, in 1973 and was admitted as a partner in 1982. |

Recently elected to the board of directors for PetFix Northeast Ohio is Karin M. Spoerke, senior manager with the Assurance Service Group at Meaden & Moore, LLP, twelve offices in Ohio, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, California, Florida and Arizona. PetFix Northeast Ohio is a nonprofit organization committed to ending pet overpopulation in Northeast Ohio.
As a member of the board, Ms. Spoerke will help direct PetFix in its mission to promote the importance of spaying and neutering pets and making surgeries affordable and accessible to low-income pet owners, feral cat caregivers, shelters, rescues and animal control agencies placing animals for adoption.
The organization operates a mobile, state-of-the-art spay/neuter surgical clinic staffed by licensed veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and animal care technicians. |

Pender Newkirk & Company, LLP, Tampa, FL, is proud to announce that audit partner, Michelle M. Sanchez, CPA and audit manager, Deborah J. Johnston, CPA have earned the Certified in Florida Sales and Use Tax (CFST) specialty designation by the Florida Department of Revenue. By earning the CFST designation and meeting several additional requirements, Sanchez and Johnston have enabled Pender Newkirk & Company to become a qualified participant in the Florida Certified Audit Program. This program is a cooperative effort between the Florida Department of Revenue and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) offering taxpayers the opportunity to review their sales and use and local option tax compliance. The Certified Audit Program was created to increase voluntary compliance by taxpayers and decrease state involvement in business. The program extends Florida’s tax collection capabilities and permits more effective use of audit resources.
The firm announces the promotions of two individuals. Charles Champion has been promoted to audit manager. Champion has served as an audit senior with the firm since 2007. He joined the firm as an audit staff in 2005. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Shane Smith has been promoted to tax senior. Smith has served as a tax staff with the firm since 2007. He earned his master’s degree in accounting from The University of Tampa. |

Sharrard, McGee & Co., P.A., two offices in North Carolina, is proud to announce that retired partner, Bill Knight, 70, has been elected Mayor of Greensboro, NC (a city of about 260,000 and the third largest in the state). Knight has promised to cut tens of millions of dollars from the
city budget — an appealing prospect for voters who are disappointed that Greensboro has the highest
tax rate among large North Carolina cities. “I want an efficient city government. Let’s remake what a municipal government is all about,”
Knight said.
